How do I select a condensing unit?

To replace an existing condensing unit, start by searching for the model designation on its nameplate. If your model has been discontinued, look for its successor or an alternative condensing unit. The replacement must provide comparable cooling capacity with the same refrigerant at the required evaporating temperature. If you are unsure, contact our technical advice team.

Is room volume sufficient for sizing?

No. Room volume alone is not enough. Important factors include the cold room insulation, the type and quantity of stored goods, how frequently the cold room is opened, loading and loading intervals, and the required cold room temperature. These factors determine the evaporating temperature and required cooling capacity. The refrigerant also matters. Our technical support team can help with sizing.

Can products with the same wattage be compared?

Condensing units with the same cooling capacity in watts can be compared under the same operating conditions and according to the same standard. The refrigerant, evaporating temperature, ambient temperature and condensing temperature must match.

Can every unit be installed outdoors?

In principle, any condensing unit can be installed outdoors. Units without a weatherproof enclosure must be protected from the weather, for example under a roof. For outdoor installation, it is also important that the compressor has an oil heater. A fan speed controller or pressure switch is also economically useful: it can switch the condenser fan on or off or reduce its speed depending on the temperature.

Where are delivery time and scope of delivery shown?

Delivery time varies by model and is stated on the individual product. Delivery includes the complete condensing unit with compressor, condenser with fan assembly and receiver, including all electrical components, mounted on a baseplate or rails.

How should I prepare a technical enquiry?

Ideally, send us a photo of the existing nameplate. We can use its details to identify the appropriate unit, a successor model or an alternative product. If you do not have a nameplate photo or are planning a new system, we need the following information:

  • Refrigerant
  • Room temperature or condensing temperature
  • Room size
  • Insulation
  • Loading
  • Type of stored goods
